MY JOURNEY OF REAL LIFE WEIGHT LOSS – How I Lost Over 180 Lbs.
by Connie Pierce

This book tells the story of a girl who was criticized, ridiculed and embarrassed; hence she felt totally inadequate for the life she led.  Through perseverance and determination, couple with an abiding faith in God, she gained her victory.  What felt like defeat was actually preparation for success.

Truly inspirational, especially for those who have or are struggling with similar issues, My Journey of Real Life Weight Loss, is a vital must-read that shares valuable insights about successfully achieving permanent weight loss.

From the book’s introduction Connie writes, “I consider life to be a journey with many ups and downs. The beauty of my life’s journey is the learning that took place with every experience, good or bad. This book is written with the hope that others will find encouragement from some of the experiences I had that led me to face the “elephant” in the room – ME at 338 lbs.”

PRAISE FOR MY JOURNEY OF REAL LIFE WEIGHT LOSS:

“What you have learned is now a part of your gift to give back to those that need it.  You have planted the foundation and everyone who has experienced the book will make the connections they need.” DP/Illinois

“(Your book) is brutally honest.  No fluff.  (It is) a marvelous vehicle for people.” RH/Massachusetts

“I ordered your book and have read it 3 times!  I loved the insights you shared – so honestly and courageously! – from your heart.  Your joy and humor come through too!  I especially appreciate how you illustrate your working from the inside out…there are no formulas for this kind of renewal.  Thank you so much for sharing your life experience with me and others in this way.”  KM/California

“I finished reading your thought-provoking book last night.  I strongly resonate to your starting point: ‘What I recall is what I believe.’  In my view, the soundest element of modern analytical psychology is the premise that we are all to some degree trapped in the past, trying to resolve conflicts which we really don’t recognize, much less understand…An observation you make on page 25 has, I think, profound implications bearing much contemplation.  You set me to thinking once again how tempting it can be to seek relief from our personal sense of inadequacy by focusing on the shortcomings of others.  The more visible the other person’s challenge the easier to minimize our own.  But in doing so we contribute to a vicious cycle in which, as you say, the recipient of ridicule becomes more and more convinced that their plight is hopeless.  Thank you for sharing your story.” JH/California

“This book is from the heart.  Her no nonsense, faith-based approach and her upbringing and the torment she experienced, both as a child and an adult, have brought her to where she is today: a productive, active, happy and healthy senior citizen.”  MR/Missouri

“I applaud (Connie) for her devotion to making the changes that have been necessary to enrich her life.  Her perseverance is inspirational and her faith in God speaks volumes about her spiritual integrity.  I love this book and I know others will, too.” MS/California

“Thank you so much for sharing your story and your book with me…it is incredibly uplifting and so AFFIRMING.  It shows that one must never ever give up and that it is never too late to “think aright.”…And knowing how much your stories and practical tips are helping my sister make this book even more meaningful for me.” CR

TEN STEPS TO SUCCESS

At the end of my book, My Journey of Real Life Weight Loss, I include these “Ten Steps to Success.”  I share them here as they not only apply to obesity issues, but are useful tools to help us focus when we are faced with any challenge.

  1. Find something upon which to center or anchor yourself
  2. Make a list of your blessings
  3. Honestly look at your life
  4. Ask questions – seek help
  5. Be willing to change your thinking and make note of how you change
  6. Be accountable to yourself
  7. Don’t blame others
  8. Find ways to reward yourself other than with food, alcohol or drugs
  9. Find ways to handle stress without turning to food, alcohol or drugs
  10. Key qualities to embrace: discipline, order, joy, energy and love

What’s important: Take time to quiet the noise of the problem so you can be receptive to ideas that will help solve the problem. Someone recently said, “Positive thinking doesn’t work without positive action!”
